Men’s and Women’s Swimming Drops Final Conference Meet to Lehman
RESULTS
BRONX, N.Y— The York College men's and women's swimming teams went on the road to close out the conference portion of its schedule on Tuesday night and fell to Lehman College. The men were defeated by a score of 97-69, while the women lost 95-61. Despite the loss, freshman swimmer Sandra Shamburger extended her individual event win streak to 10.
Shamburger won the 50-yard freestyle by more than five seconds, touching the wall in a time of 27.28. It is the fourth fastest time in the CUNYAC this season. She later would add a first-place finish in the 100-freestyle, finishging with a time of 59.57. That was the third fastest time in the CUNYAC.
Also contributing for the women was Alexandra Castro, who won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:28.42.
For the men, York was led by
Jonathan Santiago, who won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 27.11.
York will close out the regular season on Thursday with a double dual meet at home against The College at Old Westbury and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at 6:00 p.m.
