Women’s Volleyball Comes Up Empty in Quad Match

ABINGTON, P.A. – The York College women's volleyball team fell to Rutgers-Camden by a score of 3-0 (25-10, 25-20, 25-12) and was also stopped by Arcadia, losing 3-0 (25-9, 25-10, 25-20). Despite a valiant effort, York was unable to fend off the attack by the Penn State Abington Nittany Lions (PSUA), losing 3-1 (25-6, 24-26, 25-13, 25-14) to remain winless at Saturday's Penn State Abington Quad-match.
Morgan Halbruner headed the Rutgers-Camden attack with 11 kills and a perfect 1.000 hitting percentage. As a team, RCU hit .366, while holding York to only eight kills.
NaaDira Patrick led York's attack with a .600 hitting percentage but ultimately the Cardinals were unsuccessful in mounting a comeback.
Arcadia was led by Delaney Dobson, who blasted 8 kills and hit .500, with the help of Carlee Rossiter's 29 assists.
Stayce Kay Muirhead fronted the Cardinals' attack with four kills and hitting .250, while
Allison Li and
Maria Ludizaca carried the defense with five digs each. Arcadia's 22 team blocks held York to only a .049 hitting percentage, handing the Cardinals their second loss of the day.
After getting off to a slow start and dropping the first set against Penn State Abington, York pressed pushed hard for a narrow 26-24 second set victory. With the help of
Evelyn Florentino's 12 assists, Patrick once again, led the Cardinal attack with7 kills.
Sharon Fordyce contributed four kills with a .571 hitting percentage, while
Stayce Kay Muirhead added 5 kills of her own. Despite PSUA committing 19 attack and 16 service errors, York was unable to capitalize, eventually losing in four sets.
York (4-16) will look to turn things around when they host Purchase College Monday night at 7p.m.
