Shamburger Shines but York Drops Double Dual Meet to Mount Saint Mary and Drew

NEWBURGH, N.Y— York College freshman swimmer
Sandra Shamburger won all three events she competed in but it would not be enough for York as both the men's and women's swimming teams lost to Drew University and Mount Saint Mary College in a double dual meet on Friday evening.
The women lost 71-21 to Mount Saint Mary and 61-23 to Drew, while the men fell 70-11 to Mount Saint Mary and 83-4 to Drew.
Shamburger opened the meet leading the women's 200-medley relay team of
Gloria Guaman,
Paulana Lamonier, and
Adiel Francis to victory in a time of 4:43.02. Later she bested five other swimmers in the 50-freestyle in a time of 27.43 and finished off her evening with a win in the 100-breastroke in a time of 1:18.57.
With the losses, both teams drop to 0-6 on the season. They will be idle for the holiday break until January 4, when they host the College of Staten Island at 6:00 p.m.
