Swimming Opens Season with Losses at Double Dual Meet
RESULTS
BRONX, N.Y— After a couple of postponed meets, the 2012-13 York College swimming season finally got underway on Thursday evening with a double dual meet against the College of Mount Saint Vincent and Bard College. Both the men's and women's swimming team came out on the short end of both matchups.
The bright spot for York College was freshman
Sandra Shamburger, who won the 200-yard individual medley over four other swimmers with a time of 2:36.16. Shamburger also led the 200-freesyle relay team of
Paulana Lamonier,
Alexandra Castro and
Carmen Cadavid to a win in a time of 2:29.12.
In addition, Castro added second-place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:02.00 and the 100-backstroke in 1:30.97.
Jonathan Santiago led the men's squad with a third-place finish in the 200-freestyle in a time of 2:35.23
