WOMEN'S RESULTS
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y— The York College men's and women's swimming teams were on the losing end of a meet with conference-rival the College of Staten Island Monday. The women lost 105-69, while the men lost 91-69.
Despite the loss, the women had a handful of strong individual performances. Senior Averie Mohammed picked up a pair of victories on the evening, winning the 50-yard freestyle (29.53) and the 100-yard freestyle (1:10.79). Alexandra Castro also won two events, taking first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:29.06) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:53.98). In addition, Chrisviany Delarosa was a winner in the 100-yard backstroke (1:36.78).
The relay team of Mohammed, Castro, Oprah Stewart and Abigail Rosado also won the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 1:55.44.
Led by Andrey Tarasov and Mitchell Lovell, who won a pair of events, the Dolphins took first in all events on the men's side.
The women's team will have a quick turnaround, as they will visit John Jay College on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. The men will return to action on November 17 with a home meet against Lehman College.
