NEWBURGH, NY— The York College men's and women's swim team dropped its season-opening meet to Mount Saint Mary College Friday evening.  The women's team fell by a score of 87-66, while the men lost 90-54.  Despite the loss, senior Ayanna Bennett won the 100-backstroke for the Lady Cardinals.

The other notable finish for York was the 50-meter freestyle, where junior Averie Mohammed placed second.  The men were led by Johnathon Boyce who placed third in the 50-meter freestyle and 100-freestyle.

The women's team will look to get back on track on Tuesday, in their home-opener against Hunter College at 6:00 p.m.  The men's next meet will be on November 18 against Brooklyn College.
