JAMAICA, NY— The York College men's and women's swimming team lost its season-opening meet to Mt. St. Mary College Tuesday evening.  The women lost by a score of 105-93, while the men fell 96-80.

Despite the loss, York sophomore Averie Mohammed picked up where she left off from last year, winning both the 50-freestyle and the 100-freestyle.  In addition the men's relay teams won both the 200-medley relay and the 200-freestyle relay.

Sara Pazmino made a strong showing in the meet as well, winning the 100-breaststroke and placing second in the 200-individual medley.

For the men, the team of Karim Chesimard, Johnnathon Boyce, Andrew Phillips and Sergio Negron easily won the 200-medley relay by a nine second margin.  In a much tighter finish Negron, Juan Recinos, Chesimard and Wesley Padilla edged out Mt. St. Mary in the 200-free relay.
