Francisco Casado

Francisco Casado, who has compiled over 150-wins on the NCAA Division II level, has been named York College women's volleyball head coach ahead of the 2019 campaign.

"I am very happy to welcome Coach Casado and his family to York College," said York College director of athletics & recreation Deneé Barracato. "He has a proven record of building a successful program and I am confident that York volleyball will prosper under his direction."

Casado brings 162 wins over his 11-year coaching career to campus between his time at Georgian Court University and Concordia College (NY), where he built a reputation for developing talent, coaching three Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference(CACC) Player of the Year honorees and 18 All-CACC selections.

"This is an exciting time to join the Cardinal family," said Casado.  "I am thankful for the opportunity to work with the team to write the next chapter in the history of the York volleyball program.  I can't wait to build with this outstanding group of student-athletes to achieve new milestones both on and off the court."

From 2003-11, Casado transformed a Georgian Court program from a four-win team in his first season to a squad that set a program record with 32 victories in 2008.  The 2008 team went 32-5 overall and posted a 21-0 mark against CACC opponents to win its third of four consecutive conference championships (2006, 2007, 2009). GCU became the first women's volleyball program in CACC history to win a match in the NCAA Regional Tournament with a 3-0 triumph over Merrimack College in the first round.  The three-set win was one of the team's 22 sweeps on the season. As one of the greatest teams in CACC history, GCU's historic run in 2008 was officially recognized by the CACC Hall of Fame in 2018 as just the third squad to be inducted in the CACC Hall of Fame.

Casado guided Georgian Court to victories in 74-consecutive conference matches (including postseason) from 2006-2010.  The feat was just three wins off the NCAA Division II record of 77, which was accomplished by West Texas A&M of the Lone Star Conference from 1999-2003.

After a three-year break from collegiate coaching, the 2007 CACC Coach of the Year returned back to the league in 2015 to serve as head coach at Concordia, a position he held for two seasons (2015-16).

Well recognized in the volleyball community, Casado founded and was the CEO of High Performance Volleyball Academy from 2006-09 before moving on to serve as the President and Athletic Director for the Board Of Directors at Pan American School Of Sport (PASOS) since 2010.

Casado got his start in the club volleyball scene in 1992, where he worked as an assistant director for the Carraizo Volleyball Club in Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico.  In 1994, Casado was promoted as the head coach for the Boys Jr. National Program of the Borinquen Coquis Volleyball Club. That year, his 13-14 boys team represented Puerto Rico at the Junior Olympics in San Jose, California, where they won the silver medal.

A 1989 graduate of CBP Rio Piedras Puerto Rico with a degree in Business Administration, Casado currently lives in Brick, New Jersey.  Casado is the father of five children, Angie, Ben, Fabiola, Javier and Tracy. Casado coached Angie, a three-time CACC Player of the Year from 2006-08 at Georgian Court, while Ben was ranked 15th in the nation in assists per set (10.07) as a senior setter at the University of Mount Olive.
