NEW YORK --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College's Franeidy Mauricio was named a 2026 CUNYAC Women's Tennis Preseason Player to Watch when league officials released the eight-member group. This conference accolade is Mauricio's first as a Cardinal. 

In two campaigns for the women's tennis squad, Mauricio played in 20 singles matches and 17 doubles contests. Elevated to the No. 1 and No. 2 singles courts in the 2025 campaign, she claimed her first victory at No. 2, defeating Albertus Magnus College's Gabby Augustin 8-2 last October. Additionally, the junior has competed in parts of two seasons for the men's tennis team, and partnered with Munab Hasnain to defeat University of Mount Saint Vincent 6-2 on the No. 2 doubles court last April. 

Coaches peg York to finish eighth in this season's CUNYAC standings.

Conference newcomer Pratt Institute tops the charts with 47 points and five first-place submissions. Hunter College 43 (2) and Baruch College 39 (1) are predicted as the Cannoneers' closest competitors. The Cardinals generated eight points in the preseason poll. 

The 2026 CUNYAC Championship will take place on October 27 (semifinals) and October 29 (finals), with the league champion receiving an automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament.

York commences the 2026 campaign Thursday (Sept. 10) with a CUNYAC home battle against the Brooklyn College Bulldogs beginning at 3 p.m. from York College Courts.
