@yorkcardinals Men’s Volleyball caps off road trip at Brooklyn

York College opens a three-match homestand next Tuesday (Mar. 17) with a CUNYAC tilt against Medgar Evers College

BROOKLYN -- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's volleyball closed out a three-match road trip Tuesday with a CUNYAC tilt against the Brooklyn College Bulldogs (7-5, 2-3 CUNYAC), dropping a straight-set decision (25-12, 25-10, 25-20) inside the West Quad Center Gymnasium.

First Set Breakdown 
  • An ace from Samiir Idlet and a kill by George Molina kept York competitive (4-4).
  • The Bulldogs claimed six of the next seven points to lead 10-5.
  • Alexis Ramirez's kill for the Cardinals made it an 11-8 ballgame
  • Brooklyn utilized a further 8-1 burst to go ahead double-digits (19-9). Armand Kaloshi's ace capped off the stretch. 
  • Aaron Siu served a pair of aces to close out a 25-12 frame.
Second Set Breakdown 
  • Brian Kim's ace gave York an early 2-1 edge.
  • Lior Amorim's couple of aces sparked a 6-0 Bulldog response (7-2).
  • Ahead 10-6, Brooklyn pulled away with a 7-0 scoring spree to go up 17-7. Two aces by Siu and three smackdowns from Matthew Kadatskiy guided the run. 
  • Kadatskiy continued his dominance with three aces, ultimately clinching a 25-10 result.
Third Set Breakdown 
  • Kills by Ramirez and Molina got the Cardinals off to a 3-1 advantage.
  • The Bulldogs replied with a 6-1 spurt to lead by three (7-4).
  • Two aces by Joel Hernandez extended their edge to 10-6.
  • A further four Brooklyn smackdowns got the lead to seven (16-9). 
  • York scored three unanswered points, but the Bulldogs countered with a mini 3-0 stretch to keep the margin at seven (19-12). 
  • Following a Cardinal service error, the Bulldogs opened up a nine-point edge (23-14). 
  • Aces by Shady Kalil and Keron Antoine keyed a late 6-1 charge for the Cardinals, but it was not enough, as Brooklyn triumphed 25-20.
Leading the Cardinals
  • Ramirez led the Cardinals with four kills while adding a block assist and six digs. 
  • Molina recorded three kills to go along with one block and three digs. 
  • Kim served two aces and dished out six assists to direct the Cardinal offense. 
  • Antoine, Idlet, and Kalil each added a service ace. 
  • Jesus Gomez and Enmanuel Guzman Urena chipped in with four digs apiece.
For Brookyln
  • Kadatskiy recorded a match-high nine points (five kills, three aces, and one solo block). 
  • Siu served a match-leading five aces and added three kills.
  • Armand Kaloshi and Joaquin Calderon each totaled four kills and four digs. 
  • Miguel Trejo (9), Hernandez (6), and Waleed Alamri (5) combined for 20 dimes.
Inside the Box Score
York tallied 54 swings and had a -.167 attack percentage. Brooklyn swung 60 times at a .283 rate. The Bulldogs also had the upper hand in kills (25-7), aces (19-5), assists (22-7), and digs (26-23), while the Cardinals got the edge in solo blocks (2-1).
