www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's volleyball returned to CUNYAC competition Thursday evening with a road meeting against the Hunter College Hawks (9-3, 2-0 CUNYAC), falling in straight sets (25-4, 25-12, 25-8) inside Hunter Sportsplex.
First Set Breakdown
- A pair of aces from Ahmed Mohamed sparked a 4-0 start for Hunter.
- The Cardinals got their first point with Brian Kim's kill at 7-2.
- 11 consecutive Hawk points extended the lead to 16 (18-2).
- Finishing off the dominance, Hunter claimed seven of the final nine points en route to a 25-4 scoreline.
Second Set Breakdown
- The Hawks claimed the first six points from the serve of Wesley Stubbs.
- Alexis Ramirez got on the board for York with a subsequent kill (6-1).
- Stubbs' kill gave Hunter its first double-digit advantage (13-3).
- Showing fight, the Cardinals went on a mini 5-2 spurt, with Samiir Idlet's ace trimming the deficit to seven (15-8).
- Both squads split the next six points, with the margin remaining at seven (18-11).
- Two aces and a kill from Brandon Yeh spearheaded a 7-2 close by the Hawks.
Third Set Breakdown
- Kim's smackdown gave York a 3-2 advantage.
- Hunter then took control, utilizing a 14-1 run to lead by 12 (16-4).
- The Cardinals got contributions from Ramirez and Keron Antoine the rest of the way, but they could not stop a 25-8 result.
Leading the Cardinals
- Kim paced the group with a team-high three kills to go along with a block assist.
- Ramirez added two kills and scooped up a team-leading five digs.
- Jesus Gomez chipped in with one kill, one block assist, and orchestrated the attack with six assists.
- Antoine tallied one kill, and Idlet served the team's lone ace.
For Hunter
- Stubbs controlled the tempo with a match-best eight kills and 12 assists. He also accumulated two aces and three block assists.
- Emmanuel Cochran spiked home four kills and totaled a match-high four block assists.
- Sebastian Gomez powered down five kills.
- Yeh produced seven assists and served a team-leading three aces.

The Cardinals generated 56 total attacks and swung at a -.304 rate. Hunter recorded a .429 attack percentage on 49 kills. In addition, the Hawks won the battle in kills (29-7), aces (11-1), block assists (15-4), assists (26-7), and digs (21-11).
