www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's volleyball competed Saturday in a non-conference tri-match against the Sarah Lawrence College Gryphons (7-4) and the Dean College Bulldogs (5-7) from Campbell Sports Center in Bronxville, NY. The Cardinals fell in straight sets (25-21, 25-13, 25-15) against the Gryphons before falling in a sweep (25-10, 25-16, 25-12) against the Bulldogs.
Match 1: Sarah Lawrence 3, York 0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-15)
First Set Breakdown
- Both sides split the first 14 points (7–7). George Molina was responsible for two of York's three points.
- Sarah Lawrence utilized a quick 5-1 spurt to lead by four (12-8).
- A kill by Samiir Idlet helped trim the deficit to two (13-11) for the Cardinals.
- The Gryphons then took control, going on a 9-2 burst to take a nine-point edge (22-13). Jack Cahill powered home four kills during this stretch.
- York did not back down, claiming eight of the following 10 points to make it a 24-21 scoreline.
- The late comeback could not be completed, however, as a Cardinal service error sealed a 25-21 result.
Second Set Breakdown
- A pair of Sarah Lawrence attack miscues gave York a 2-0 start.
- Jackson Perhaes' ace capped off a 9-3 Sarah Lawrence reply (9-5).
- Keron Antoine tallied a block and a kill to cut the margin to two (11-9).
- Three aces from Mikel Miller spearheaded an 8-2 stretch to give the Gryphons a 19-11 advantage.
- Sarah Lawrence closed out the frame (25-13) with a couple of aces by Aidan Roney.
Third Set Breakdown
- The Gryphons continued their momentum with a 9-3 start.
- An ace by Jack Cahill extended the lead to nine (13-4).
- The Cardinals steadily chipped away at the deficit, using a 10-5 extended charge to make it a four-point scoreline (18-14). Brian Kim generated two kills and an ace during the spell.
- That was as close as York got, though, with Sarah Lawrence locking down the match with a 7-1 spurt (25-15).
Leading the Cardinals
- Kim recorded a team-leading seven points (five kills, one ace, one solo block).
- Molina also powered down five kills and helped defensively with six digs.
- Antoine produced career-highs in solo blocks (2) and digs (7).
- Enmanuel Guzman Urena tallied a career-high four kills to go along with one ace.
- Jesus Gomez distributed a team-best 13 assists.
For Sarah Lawrence
- Miller paced the squad with 11 kills on 18 attacks (.444 attack percentage) and added three aces and 1.5 points on blocks.
- Cahill matched the 11-kill mark and scooped up six digs as well.
- Roney (7), Perhaes (5), and Alex Xie (5) combined for 17 kills.
- Xie orchestrated the offense with 29 assists, and Chase Bolden led all players with nine digs.

York totaled 17 kills on 66 swings (0.61 rate). Sarah Lawrence produced 39 kills on 87 opportunities (.253 percentage). The Gryphons also won the ace (11-4), assist (33-16), and dig (34-30) categories.
Match 2: Dean 3, York 0 (25-10, 25-16, 25-12)
First Set Breakdown
- Dean got off to a 7-2 start.
- The Bulldogs continued their control with a further 9-4 run, as Antonio Varela's ace made the margin double-digits (16-6).
- York never got a foothold in the stanza, as a kill by Travis Johnson concluded a 25-10 outcome.
Second Set Breakdown
- Aces from Gomez and Kim buoyed a 4-1 Cardinal beginning.
- That lead did not last, as Dean responded with a 7-2 blitz to go up by three (9-6).
- Ahead 13-11, the Bulldogs claimed the next four points to push the lead to six (17-11).
- York hung around, as an ace from Guzman Urena trimmed the deficit to three (19-16).
- The Cardinals did not score a point the rest of the way, as three aces from Rayan Echelh helped Dean pull away.
Third Set Breakdown
- The Bulldogs collected the first eight points on the serve of Evan Boulay.
- A trio of kills from Kim got York within striking distance (9-5).
- Two aces and a kill by Varela pushed the margin back up to eight (13-5).
- Leading 14-8, Dean went on a further 6-0 spurt to essentially lock the match up (20-8).
- Naya Phillip's kill put an end to proceedings at 25-12.
Leading the Cardinals
- Kim spiked down a team-best eight kills.
- Guzman Urena tallied two kills, one ace, and impressed defensively with a team-leading seven digs.
- Molina and Gomez also served an ace.
- Gomez added 10 assists to his season total, and Idlet scooped up five digs.
For Dean
- Varela smacked down four kills and served four aces for a team-high eight points.
- Echelh tallied four points and three aces.
- Johnson authored five kills on five attacks.
- Boulay distributed a match-best 16 assists and matched Varela's four-ace tally.

The Cardinals generated 10 kills on 54 total attacks for a -.148 percentage. Dean spiked home 31 kills on 64 attempts at a .328 rate. The Bulldogs also had the edge in aces (19-4), assists (29-10), solo blocks (1-0), and digs (22-21).
