York College men's volleyball continued non-conference action Thursday evening with a home matchup against the SUNY Old Westbury Panthers (1-0), falling in straight sets (25-16, 25-16, 25-23) from York College Gymnasium.
First Set Breakdown
- An ace by Brian Kim capped off an 8-4 York start.
- The Panthers scored nine unanswered points to lead by five (13-8). Kyle Singh-Gajadar served four aces during the stretch.
- Both teams traded the next 10 points, with the scoreboard showing 18-13.
- Consecutive kills by Alexis Ramirez kept the Cardinals in striking distance (20-15).
- Old Westbury claimed five of the final six points to win 25-16.
Second Set Breakdown
- Utilizing five kills and two aces, the Panthers held an early 9-2 edge.
- A pair of kills from Julius Morales expanded the advantage to a set-high 12 points (18-6).
- Charging back, York went on an 8-3 run to trim the deficit to seven (22-15). Kim (3), Ramirez (2), George Molina (2) combined for seven kills during the burst.

Third Set Breakdown
- Both squads had a competitive first 16 points, with Old Westbury leading 9-7.
- With the help of a 7-1 spurt, the Panthers maintained an eight-point margin (16-8).
- Trailing by seven (21-14), the Cardinals stormed late with six consecutive points to make a one-point scoreline (21-20).
- Kills by Molina and Jesus Gomez maintained the one-point deficit for York (24-23).
- Luke Vetack's kill clinched the 25-23 result.
Leading the Cardinals
- Ramirez contributed a team-leading nine kills and 29 attacks (.128 percentage) and chipped in defensively with four kills.
- Kim had an all-around performance with five kills, a team-high three aces, and one block assist.
- Molina matched Kim's five-kill tally and scooped up a team-best seven digs.
- Gomez orchestrated the offense with 19 assists and totaled two aces and six digs.
- Enmanuel Guzman Urena helped the defensive display with five digs.
For Old Westbury
- Morales smacked down a match-high 13 kills on 20 attempts (.550 attack rate).
- Singh-Gajadar controlled the serve game with eight aces.
- Santos provided value in all areas with three kills, four aces, five digs, and a team-high 16 assists.
- Jason Giles added five kills, one ace, and two total blocks.
- Lucas Rogers helped the attack with 10 dimes, and Kevin Alarcon generated a match-leading eight digs.
