www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's volleyball opened their 2026 season Tuesday evening with a non-conference meeting against the University of Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins (1-1), falling in straight sets (25-12, 25-10, 25-15) from York College Gymnasium.
First Set Breakdown
- In a back-and-forth battle featuring nine ties and three lead changes, both squads split the first 10 points.
- Spearheaded by four aces from Matthew Barrancos, UMSV went up 15-10.
- The Dolphins closed out the set on a 10-2 spurt, with Jose Dominguez serving a pair of aces and Yestro Luciano Jr. tallying three points.
Second Set Breakdown
- The Cardinals hung around early on, as smackdowns by Alexis Ramirez and George Molina had the score at 8-5.
- Following three consecutive UMSV scores, York responded with a mini 3-0 run to keep the deficit at three (11-8).
- Utilizing an 8-1 burst, the Dolphins extended their advantage to double digits (19-9).
- Another Dominguez ace sealed a 25-10 scoreline.
Third Set Breakdown
- UMSV began the stanza with an 8-2 stretch.
- Keeping pace, kills from Ramirez, Han-Ming Mei, and Enmanuel Guzman Urena made the score 13-8.
- Running away with the match, the Dolphins recorded eight kills in the next nine points to lead 21-9.
- Trialing 22-10, the Cardinals used a 5-2 charge to dent the UMSV edge (24-15) before Dominguez clinched the match with a kill.
Leading the Cardinals
- Ramirez contributed a team-high seven kills (.250 attack percentage) and scooped up four digs.
- Molina chipped in with three kills.
- Jesus Gomez matched Ramirez's four-dig mark and controlled the attack with 10 assists.
- Mei and Guzman Urena each had a debut kill.
For UMSV
- Dominguez produced an all-around game with seven kills, four aces, a block, and 11 digs.
- Barrancos served a game-high six aces and orchestrated the offense with 17 assists.
- Tyler Hanna, Raedon Nieves, and Terrence Short each totaled five kills.
- Luciano Jr. (4) and Luis Utarte (4) combined for eight kills, and Christian Ferrer set his Dolphin teammates up on 10 occasions.

York generated 53 attacks at a -.019 rate. The Dolphins swung 59 times with a .407 attack percentage. In addition, UMSV had the edge in kills (33-13), aces (16-0), assists (30-12), digs (25-15), and total blocks (3-0).
