Jonte Wallace was recognized as the CUNYAC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week for games played Jan. 12-18. This award is the freshman's second CUNYAC weekly laurel of the season, as he collected another Rookie of the Week honor back in December (

Continuing his strong campaign, the forward averaged 16 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game on 51.7 percent (15-of-29) shooting in two games last week. In a road matchup at Lehman (Jan. 14), he netted 14 points (7-of-13 FG) and recorded three steals. Facing Baruch College (Jan. 16) in a CUNYAC home battle, Wallace dropped a career-best 18 points (8-of-16 FG) to go along with eight rebounds and two steals. This talented Brooklyn native has now produced five straight double-digit scoring displays.
Overall, Wallace is averaging 10.9 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.2 steals per game through 13 contests. In the CUNYAC leaderboards, he ranks third in steals per game, 10th in rebounding, and 16th in scoring.
