Gabriela Pirondi was selected as a 2025 CUNYAC Women's Tennis Preseason Player to Watch when league officials released the seven-member group. This conference accolade is Pirondi's first as a Cardinal.
Debuting for York College in the 2024-25 campaign, the sophomore played in six doubles matches and five singles contests for the men's squad. She earned her first victory on the No. 6 singles court against Albertus Magnus College last March. Additionally, she participated in one match against Kean University (Apr. 14) for the women's squad, competing on the No. 1 doubles and No. 4 singles courts.
Coaches voted York to finish sixth in this season's CUNYAC standings.

Baruch College is the preseason favorite with 33 points and four first-place votes, while Hunter College follows with 29 points and two first-place nods. The Cardinals are projected to finish sixth and received the conference's final first-place vote. York's six-match conference slate begins with a home meeting against John Jay College on September 9.
The 2024 CUNYAC Championship will take place on October 28 (semifinals) and October 30 (finals), with the league champion receiving an automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament.

Josanne Williams, and
Julia Wyman, as well as talented newcomers, will help the Cardinals grow under fourth-year coaches
