BROOKLYN, NY--- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's volleyball set a season-high in points, kills, assists, and aces Tuesday evening in a CUNYAC matchup against the Medgar Evers College Cougars (0-7, 0-2 CUNYAC), triumphing in four sets (25-20, 25-14, 24-26, 25-20) from Cougars Cave. 

First Set Breakdown 

• Three aces by Madison Plaza got the Cardinals off to a 5-1 start.
• Medgar Evers responded with five unanswered points to lead 6-5.
• An extended 9-3 spurt helped York take a five-point (14-9) edge.
• A kill by Jennifer Metra trimmed the Cougars' deficit to two (15-13).
• Chamiya Foy spiked down a kill to push the Cardinals' advantage back up to five (18-13).
• Not going away, Maritza Argueta's ace capped off a 4-0 stretch for Medgar Evers to make it 18-17.
• York once again had an answer, as Foy powered home a trio of kills to extend the lead to six (22-17).
• Zia Lefebvre's smackdown sealed a 25-20 scoreline.

Second Set Breakdown 

• Two service aces from Aliyah Chapman gave the Cougars a 6-4 edge. 
• Trailing 7-5, five combined kills from Plaza and Lefebvre sparked a 10-0 Cardinal spurt to go up eight (15-7).
• Medgar Evers cut it to five (16-11), but two aces by Panameno fueled a 4-0 York response to get some breathing room (20-11).
• The Cardinals ultimately secured a 25-14 result.

Third Set Breakdown 

• The Cougars got out to a 9-5 beginning.
• Jaymie Mateo's kill finalized a 5-1 stretch to level the score (10-10).
• Even at 14, three Metra aces buoyed a 5-0 Medgar Evers breakout to lead 19-14.
• York surged back as Lefebvre served three aces to take a 21-20 advantage.
• Smackdowns from Lefebvre and Mateo saved two set points for the Cardinals before Medgar Evers triumphed 26-24.

Fourth Set Breakdown 

• Four aces got York up 7-2.
• Piling on the pressure, the Cardinals utilized a 9-2 storm to extend their edge to 11 (16-4).
• Undeterred, the Cougars went on an 8-3 charge to trim the deficit to seven (19-12).
• York ultimately survived a late Medgar Evers push to clinch a 25-20 decision.

Leading the Cardinals

• Plaza tallied a career-high 17 points. She smacked down nine kills and served a match-best eight aces.
• Lefebvre matched Plaza's 17-point tally, producing 14 kills and three aces. She also contributed defensively with nine digs. 
• Mateo had an all-around performance with eight kills, five aces, and six digs.
• Panameno distributed a career-high 28 assists.
• Foy and Simranjit Kaur each recorded four kills.
• Jasmine Dias added three aces and scooped up a team-leading 13 digs.

For Medgar Evers

• Chapman led the Cougars with 11.5 points (six aces, five kills, one block assist).
• Metra authored seven kills, seven digs, and four aces.
• Argueta served four aces and engineered a match-high 14 digs.
• Sariyah Brumaire provided eight assists and nine digs.

York attacked at a .183 rate across 109 swings, and the Cougars produced a .014 attack percentage on 74 attempts. Additionally, the Cardinals had the edge in points (67-37), kills (42-18), assists (36-14), and aces (25-18), while Medgar Evers had more digs (44-38).
