www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's volleyball began a four-match home stretch Thursday evening with a non-conference display against the Maritime College Privateers (6-4), falling in straight sets (25-11, 25-12, 25-14) from York College Gymnasium.
First Set Breakdown
- A dominant beginning, a kill by Grace Devaney gave Maritime a 13-3 advantage.
- York slowly chipped away, and Samantha Panameno's ace trimmed the deficit to six (16-10).
- The Privateers took over after that, claiming nine of the final 10 points on their way to a 25-11 scoreline.
Second Set Breakdown
- Jaymie Mateo's kill gave the Cardinals life at 3-2.
- Maritime took over from there with a 10-1 burst to lead 13-3. Ashley Pavarni served three aces during that stretch.
- Five consecutive Privateer attack errors made it 13-8.
- Ahead 15-10, a trio of kills by Mikaela Thiel sparked a 7-0 burst to extend Maritime's edge to seven (22-10).
- Nicole Scourakis capped off the 25-12 result with a kill.
Third Set Breakdown
- A smackdown by Chamiya Foy leveled the score at three.
- Five Pavarini aces spearheaded a 10-1 Privateer surge to go ahead by double-digits (14-4).
- York made it a nine-point margin on multiple occasions, but could not close the gap as Maritime sealed a 25-14 victory.
Leading the Cardinals
- Zia Lefebvre had a team-best five kills and 10 digs.
- Mateo totaled three kills and seven digs.
- Jasmine Dias recorded nine digs, and Samantha Panameno orchestrated the attack with eight assists to go along with serving York's lone ace.
- Chamiya Foy sparked the defense with a match-high two solo blocks.
For Maritime
- Pavarini controlled proceedings with a match-best 18 points (nine kills and nine aces) to go along with six assists.
- Weist spiked down 12 kills and served a pair of aces.
- Devaney added six kills.
- Thiel distributed a match-leading 20 assists, and Olivia Casabona (9) and Joan Anastasiades (9) scooped up 18 digs.

The Cardinals produced 12 kills on 75 attempts for a -.107 attack percentage. The Privateers managed 34 kills on 92 swings (.185 rate). Additionally, Maritime had the advantage in aces (15-1), assists (33-12), and digs (38-34), while York had a 2-0 advantage in total blocks.
