York College remains on home court Thursday (Mar. 27) for a CUNYAC showdown against Brooklyn College on Senior Day

JAMAICA, NY-- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's volleyball continued CUNYAC play on home court Tuesday evening, facing the Lehman College Lightning (13-7, 5-7 CUNYAC), ultimately falling in straight sets (25-21, 25-20, 25-11) from York College Gymnasium.

First Set Breakdown
  • A kill from Lehman's Emmanuel Cochran leveled the score at 10.
  • Trailing 12-11, York went on a 7-1 burst capped off by Stanley Sanchez's ace to lead 18-13.
  • Three smackdowns from Oscar Calderon facilitated the Lightning's 10-1 blitz to go ahead by four (23-21).
  • The Cardinals made a two-point deficit (23-21) before Lehman closed out a 25-21 result.
Second Set Breakdown
  • Ahead 7-6, a pair of spikes by Calderon and Ray Rodriguez helped extend the Lightning's edge to seven (13-6).
  • Lehman took a set-high nine-point advantage (17-8) following a Cardinal service error.
  • Making the stanza close, a thunderous kill by Vincent Agokei closed out a 10-3 York stretch, trimming the margin to two (20-18).
  • John Zerafa's ace pushed the Lightning's lead to five (23-18) before Cochran and Calderon combined for a block that sealed a 25-20 scoreline.

  • Gomez totaled team-highs in kills (12) and aces (3) to go along with a solid defensive effort of 12 digs to post his third-career double-double.
  • Ramirez and David Heyliger, Jr. both added five kills.
  • Agokei recorded one solo block and four block assists.
  • Sanchez orchestrated the offense with 27 kills and Ahmed Algendy scooped up a season-best 18 digs.
For Lehman
  • Cochran tallied 11 kills and a trio of block assists. Calderon went for 10 kills and four block assists.
  • Emmanuel Oladosu served a team-best three aces and Rodriguez smacked down six kills.
  • Levi Rosario (16), Zerafa (11), and Rodriguez (10) combined for 37 digs.
  • Zerafa facilitated the Lightning attack with 25 assists. 
Inside the Box Score
The Cardinals accumulated 28 kills on 123 attacks (-.016 percentage), while Lehman produced 33 kills on a .178 rate. Additionally, the Lightning had the advantages in aces (5-4), assists (29-27), total blocks (7-6.5), and digs (53-49).
