JAMAICA, NY-- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's volleyball completed a wire-to-wire victory Thursday evening, defeating the Medgar Evers College Cougars (0-14, 0-11) in straight sets (25-13, 25-7, 25-7) in a CUNYAC contest from York College Gymnasium. 

First Set Breakdown

• Four service aces from Stanley Sanchez spearheaded a 7-0 York start.
• Medgar Evers responded with a 4-1 spurt to trim the deficit to four (8-4).
• A trio of smackdowns from Sebastian Gomez extended the Cardinals' advantage to nine (13-4).
• Staying in the set, the Cougars went on a 6-2 burst to make it a five-point margin (15-10).
• Three consecutive spikes by Ian McIntosh made it 19-10.
• Another McIntosh kill finalized a 25-13 result.

Second Set Breakdown

• 10 kills and three aces got York off to a 15-1 blitz.
• McIntosh's smackdown gave the Cardinals a set-high 19-point edge (23-4).
• Vincent Agokei's aces closed out a 25-7 scoreline.

Third Set Breakdown

• Three aces by McIntosh capped off a 16-1 opening. 
• Kayshaun Higgs' spike brought down Medgr Evers' deficit to 13 (18-5).
• York remained in control, as Sanchez's ace clinched a 25-7 decision. 

Leading the Cardinals

• Gomez recorded a match-leading 17 kills (.333 percentage) and chipped in defensively with six digs.
• McIntosh produced career-bests in kills (8) and aces (7). 
• Iteoluwakiisi Adegboye totaled another eight kills (.500 percentage).
• Sanchez served up a career-high eight aces and controlled the attack with 36 assists.
• Agokei (4), George Molina (2), and Joseph Lebron (2) combined for eight kills.
• Ahmed Algendy scooped up a match-best nine digs.

For Medgar Evers

• Higgs and Jose Janvier both contributed two kills. Janvier tallied four digs as well.
• Nsoki Fraser recorded a team-leading two assists.
• Shabbir Ahmed authored seven digs.

Inside the Box Score
York smacked down 41 kills on 75 attacks for a season-best .373 rate. Medgar Evers totaled six kills on a -.116 clip. Additionally, The Cardinals owned the edge in aces (17-0), total blocks (2-1), assists (26-3), and digs (26-17). The 17 aces were a season-high.
