www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's volleyball overcame the City College of New York Beavers (2-10, 1-4) in four sets (25-20, 25-14, 21-25, 26-24) Saturday afternoon. Earlier in the day, the team lost a five-set thriller (25-18, 25-15, 24-26, 22-25, 15-4) to the Lehman College Lightning (10-2, 3-2) in the first part of a CUNYAC tri-match inside APEX Main Gym.
Match 1: Lehman 3, York 2 (25-18, 25-15, 24-26, 22-25, 15-4)
First Set Breakdown
- Tied at eight, a pair of kills by Sebastian Gomez gave York a 12-9 edge.
- Lehman leveled the score at 13 after a kill from Emmanuel Cochran.
- A trio of Lightning attack errors got the Cardinals a two-point edge (18-16).
- Spikes by Cochran, Almir Pepic, and Emmanuel Oladosu closed out a 9-0 Lehman blitz for a 25-18 result.
Second Set Breakdown
- The Lightning got off to an 8-4 start.
- York maintained a four-point deficit, as Alexis Ramirez's smackdown made it a 17-13 scoreline.
