www.YORKATHLETICS.com)Ā York College women's basketball posted a trio of double-digit scorers Tuesday to win their second-straight game with a convincing 57-45 CUNYAC road triumph against the City College of New York Beavers (1-14, 0-9 CUNYAC) inside Nat Holman Gymnasium.
How it Happened
- CCNY got out to a 6-0 advantage 3:11 into the first quarter.Ā
- Madison Plaza's triple capped off a mini 5-0 burst for York to trim the deficit to 6-5.
- A layup by Amaniya Aiken gave the Cardinals their first lead (9-8) of the contest.
- Consecutive layups from Alicia Gumbs closed out a 15-12 first quarter for York.
- Ashley Colon's 3-pointer finalized a 10-2 charge for the Beavers to start the second frame, taking a 22-17 edge with 6:31 remaining in the half.
- The Cardinals took regainedĀ the lead (23-22) following a pair of triples by Gumbs.
- CCNY converted two layups to take back a 26-23 advantage at 4:19.
- Tightening its defense, York closed the period on a 7-0 burst to lead by four (30-26) at intermission.Ā
- Kasia Morrison drained a 3-pointer at 8:19 to give the Beavers its last lead of the evening (31-30).
- Producing a defensive masterpiece, the Cardinals held CCNY scoreless for over seven minutes, taking a 38-31 advantage in the process.Ā
- Tyla Hooks' free throw gave York its first double-digit cushionĀ (43-33) before Colon's extra point with one second left in the quarter made it 43-34.
- The Beavers trimmed the deficit to two possessions (45-39) at the 7:03 mark of the fourth.
- Leaving no doubt, the Cardinals responded with a 7-0 burst to take a game-high 13-point margin (52-39) with 5:15 remaining.Ā
- CCNY got it within eight (53-45) at 3:19 before York netted the final four points in a 57-45 decision.Ā
Leading the Cardinals
- Gumbs notched a double-double with 20 points (7-of-17 FG, 3-of-6 3FG, 3-of-6 FT) and 12 rebounds. She also paced the squad with seven steals and three assists.Ā
- Aiken added 14 points (6-of-11 FG), four rebounds, and three steals.Ā
- Plaza recorded 10 points (4-of-10 FG), five rebounds, two assists, and two steals.Ā
- Beautifull Earth contributed with eight points, six rebounds, and five steals.Ā
- Hooks dropped a career-best five points.Ā
For CCNY
- Morrison scored a team-leading 13 points, hauled in eight rebounds, dished out three dimes, and generated four steals.Ā
- Joscelyn Ramos tallied 10 points, eight rebounds, and three assists.Ā
- Amanda Fischer produced team-highs in rebounds (10) and blocks (5).Ā

The Cardinals executed their offense well, shooting 40 percent (22-of-65) from the floor, 50 percent (5-of-10) from downtown, and making eight free throws. Tough York defense held CCNY to 30.2 percent (19-of-63) from the floor and 17.4 percent (4-of-23) from downtown. Beyond shooting percentages, the Beavers held advantages in rebounds (44-41), assists (12-7), and blocks (5-0), while York owned the steals category (21-10).
