www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's volleyball put together a convincing four-set triumph (16-25, 25-16, 25-25, 25-8) over the City College of New York Beavers (0-3) Saturday afternoon to capture their first season-opening win since 2019. The Cardinals followed with a highly contested setback in three sets (25-20, 27-25, 25-22) to the host Sarah Lawrence College Gryphons to cap off a non-conference tri-match inside Caminside Campbell Sports Center.
Match 1: York 3, CCNY 1 (16-25, 25-16, 25-15,25-8)
First Set Breakdown
- An ace by David Heyliger, Jr. put York up 4-2.
- The Beavers took control with a 7-0 burst to lead 9-4.
- CCNY extended its advantage to seven (15-8) following an ace by Reng Chen.
- The Cardinals claimed the following two points to trim the deficit to five (15-10), but that was the closest margin of the set, as CCNY cruised to a 25-16 victory.
