@yorkcardinals Women’s Volleyball caps off CUNYAC play at CCNY

York College remains on the road Thursday (Nov. 6) to close out its 2025 campaign against Yeshiva University

BRONX--- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's volleyball closed out its CUNYAC slate Thursday evening with a road matchup against the City College of New York Beavers (7-17, 3-4 CUNYAC), falling in straight sets (25-13, 25-14, 25-4) inside Nat Holman Gymnasium. 

First Set Breakdown 
  • The Cardinals got off to a 7-3 lead. Jaymie Mateo and Simranjit Kaur combined for three aces during the stretch. 
  • CCNY responded with eight unanswered points to go up 11-7, fueled by Ivanna Zamora Sanchez's three aces.  
  • The Beavers extended their edge to five (14-9) following a York attack error. 
  • Ahead 15-11, a pair of aces from Danuzia Caixeta Palmer and Gia Skenderi pushed the margin to double digits (22-12).
  • Rachael Reyes' kill closed out the 25-13 result. 
Second Set Breakdown 
  • A service ace from Nila Tom punctuated a 7-2 Beaver beginning. 
  • Skenderi's kill extended the advantage to eight (14-6).
  • Aces by Madison Plaza and Mateo trimmed the deficit to five (15-10).
  • Leading 17-11, CCNY went on an 8-3 spurt to clinch a 25-14 scoreline.  
Third Set Breakdown 
  • Four aces by Caixeta Palmer buoyed a 9-0 start for the Beavers. 
  • A further 8-0 burst gave CCNY a 17-1 edge.
  • Three aces from Zamora Sanchez finalized a 25-4 outcome. 
Leading the Cardinals
  • Mateo tallied a team-best four points (three aces and one ace).
  • Zia Lefebvre and Chamiya Foy each generated two kills and one solo block. Lefebvre added a team-high five digs.
  • Kaur and Plaza both chipped in with one ace. 
  • Samantha Panameno recorded four assists. 
For CCNY
  • Skenderi led all players with nine points (five aces and four kills). 
  • Caixeta Palmer and Serena Warner each followed with eight points. Caixeta Palmer served a match-best seven aces and distributed 14 assists. Warner swatted three attacks. 
  • Zamora Sanchez contributed six aces and seven assists.
  • Rosalynda Russo scooped up a match-leading 13 digs. 
Inside the Box Score
York attacked 55 times at a -.218 rate. The Beavers produced 51 swings and a .314 attack percentage. Additionally, CCNY had the upper hand in points (49-13), kills (26-8), aces (20-3), blocks (3-2), assists (23-7), and digs (25-10).
