www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's basketball wrapped up a two-game road trip Wednesday evening, continuing non-conference play with a 71–55 setback to the William Paterson University Pioneers (2-0) inside the WPU Sports and Recreation Center.

Both teams traded 6-0 runs of their own to start the game.
Joshua Jackman's jumper for York made it a 16-14 scoreline at the 11:06 mark of the first half. William Paterson began to turn it on, going on a 9-0 spurt to lead by 11 (25-14) with 8:48 remaining. A fastbreak layup from
Christopher Smith made it a nine-point margin (29-20) at 4:31, the closest the Cardinals got the rest of the game. Jack Gobel's triple extended the Pioneers' advantage to a half-high 14 (36-22), before baskets from
Oke Okrokoto,
Jonte Wallace, and
Gozie Chinegwundoh closed out the 38-28 stanza.
Jianni Moran's fastbreak layup capped off a 6-0 burst for William Paterson to begin the second frame. Two free throws from Josiah Carey made it a 20-point edge (54-34) with 13:19 showing on the clock. The Pioneers maintained a 17-23-point lead for essentially the rest of the contest, with
Malakai Clark's three-point play finalizing a 71-55 result.
Leading the Cardinal
Smith paced York with a double-double, posting 10 points on 5-of-12 shooting along with 10 rebounds, two blocks, and a steal. Okrokoto controlled the paint with 10 points (5-of-10 FG), nine rebounds—including four on the offensive glass—plus a block and a steal. Jackman added eight points (4-of-8 FG), while Chinegwundoh contributed eight points, five rebounds (three offensive), three assists, two steals, and a block.
For William Paterson
Gobel topped the scoring chart with 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting, including 2-of-4 from beyond the arc, while adding three steals. Ethan Paul provided a spark off the bench with 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting. Cam Reyes contributed four steals, and Fred Orock Jr. anchored the interior with eight rebounds and three blocks.

The Cardinals shot 37.5 percent (24-of-64) from the floor and 53.8 percent (7-of-13) from the free-throw line. William Paterson connected on 39.4 percent (28-of-71) of its field goals, drained three triples, and shot 54.5 percent (12-of-22) from the charity stripe. York held a slight advantage in rebounds (47-46), while the Pioneers maintained an edge in assists (15-13), steals (7-6), and blocks (11-8).
