www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's volleyball returned to action Thursday evening in a non-conference home meeting against the Purchase College Panthers (2-7), falling in straight sets (25-8, 25-6, 25-13) inside York College Gymnasium.
First Set Breakdown
- A pair of kills by Thalia Patenelli got Purchase off to a 5-1 start.
- Keeping the pressure on, four more Panther kills extended the lead to 12-4.
- Leading 14-6, Purchase utilized a 7-0 burst to take a 15-point edge (21-6).
- Adrianna Pinzon's ace closed out the set at 25-8.
Second Set Breakdown
- Maria Ventura's ace and Maritza Ortega Ramirez's kill gave the Cardinals a 4-2 boost.
- Marcella Pena's two aces helped the Panthers go on a 4-0 mini-run to take a 6-4 advantage.
- Following a lost point on a service error, Purchase rattled off the next 17 points to go up 23-5. Natalia Leite's nine service aces spearheaded the Panthers during that run.
- Sadie Weiss served out the stanza with a 25-6 scoreline.
Third Set Breakdown
- Ventura's ace gave York hope early on, trailing 3-2.
- Taking control, the Panthers went on a 5-0 burst to take a six-point edge (8-2).
- Smackdowns by Ventura and Samantha Panameno maintained that six-point deficit (13-7) for the Cardinals.

- Leite finished with match-highs in points (12) and aces (10).
- Weiss chipped in with four kills and three aces.
- Jessica Scott (four kills and one ace) and Helena Carroll (one kill and four aces) totaled five points.
- Carroll orchestrated the offense with 10 assists and Marcella Pena scooped up a match-leading nine digs.
