www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College began conference play Tuesday evening with a home encounter versus the Baruch College Bearcats (3-3, 1-0 CUNYAC), falling in straight sets (25-14, 25-15, 25-14) inside York College Gymnasium.

First Set Breakdown
- York College came out swinging by grabbing a 4-1 lead.
- The Bearcats responded by taking eight of the following nine points to claim a 9-5 advantage.
- A kill by York's Maritza Ortega Ramirez made it 9-6.
- Taking command, Baruch went on a 10-2 burst to push its edge to 11 (19-8).
- Smackdowns by Ortega Ramirez and Madison Plaza tried to make it close but the Bearcats won the set 25-14.
Second Set Breakdown
- Both squads split the first four points.
- Trailing 8-4, the Cardinals stormed back with a 6-2 run to level the score at 10.
- Three kills by Dibjot Kaur spearheaded a 6-1 burst from Baruch to lead 16-11.
- Running away, the Bearcats finished the set on a 9-4 charge to win 25-15.
Third Set Breakdown
- The Cardinals got off to a 5-3 start helped by a kill from Ortega Ramirez.
- Two aces and a kill by Baruch's Isabella Doring spearheaded a 9-6 lead.
- Ahead 9-8, a 7-0 Bearcat blitz gave them a 16-8 advantage.
- A trio of aces by Karen Pozo Castro opened up a 12-point edge (21-9).
- Battling back, two aces by Plaza catapulted a 5-0 run by York to trim the deficit to 7 (21-14).
- Baruch finalized the match with a kill from Elizabeth Wood.
Leading the Cardinals
- Plaza paced the team with five points (3 kills and two aces) and had 10 total attacks.
- Ortega Ramirez matched Plaza's total of three kills and scooped up 11 digs.
- Jasmine Dias debuted at the libero position with a match-best 13 digs.
- Alicia Gumbs recorded the squad's lone block and Samantha Panameno orchestrated the attack with six assists and a team-high 14 attacks.
For Baruch
- Kaur ran the show for the Bearcats with a match-best nine kills and a .467 attack percentage. She also accumulated eight digs.
- Karolina Lundqvist added six kills and two aces.
- Doring generated seven points and Delaney Killeen served a match-leading five aces.
- Pei Qiong Ren paced the offense with 17 assists.

York hit -.104 on 77 attacks, while Baruch attacked at a rate of .182 on 88 swings. The Bearcats also had an advantage in points (51-15), kills (31-8), aces (18-6), assists (28-6), and digs (51-41).
