JAMAICA, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's tennis closed out CUNYAC play Tuesday afternoon in a highly contested matchup against the Lehman College Lightning (1-9, 1-4 CUNYAC), as the Cardinals produced a season-best four points, but were unable to pull away with the win, falling 5-4 from York Courts.  The four points marked a season-high for York, and the most since taking four from Saint Elizabeth University on April 7, 2023.

In doubles play, York posted its first wins of the campaign with season-best performances on the second and third doubles courts.  The win at No. 2 doubles is York's first since April 21, 2018, when Hasnain Khatri and Vimal Ramnarain won 8-0 against St. Joseph's University (Brooklyn).  Shady Kalil and Abubakar Khamis starred at No. 2 doubles by recording an 8-4 triumph.  At third doubles, the duo of Bisola Babanumi and Emperatriz Cesar reigned victory by the final count of 9-8, winning a 7-5 tiebreaker to account for the second triumph by a member of the women's team during the mixed season.  

For the first time this season the Cardinals were victorious on No. 4 singles, while the No. 6 singles triumph was the second of the season for York.  In just his third match of the season, Kalil registered his first-career win in singles play, grabbing a 7-6, 7-5 triumph on the fourth singles court.  In sixth singles, Firdaus Abdulai garnered his first victory of the season (third career) with a 6-3, 6-3 decision.
