JAMAICA, NY --- (
www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's tennis closed out a day that saw the Cardinals play two matches on home court Tuesday, finishing with a non-conference matchup versus the Pratt Institute Cannoneers (7-5), falling 9-0 from York College Courts.
Fresh off a No. 2 doubles win earlier in the day against Lehman College, the duo of
Shady Kalil and
Abubakar Khamis pushed Pratt by taking six games before dropping an 8-6 decision. In first doubles,
Altenor Molien and
Sangay Yoezer claimed two games against Pratt's finest.
In singles play,
Bisola Babanumi highlighted York by combining to win nine games, putting the pressure on Pratt before a 7-5, 6-4 decision went the Cannoneers' way. Khamis and
Emperatriz Cesar both battled to take four games in third and fifth singles, respectively. Kalil followed up his win over Lehman with a 6-2, 6-0 setback on the No. 4 singles court.
