BROOKLYN, NYÂ --- (
www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College softball closed out a four-game series Tuesday with the Brooklyn College Bulldogs (9-13), falling 8-0 and 13-0 in a non-conference doubleheader from Brooklyn College Field. Â
Game 1: Brooklyn 8, York 0 (5 Inn.)
- York committed three costly errors in the opener as a first inning fielding miscue by third baseman Faith Howes advanced runners into scoring position before a wild pitch by Remedios Garcia (L, 2-9: 4.2 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 4 BB, SO) scored Paige Palacios for what proved to be the game-winning run for Brooklyn.Â
- Two batters later, Dasha Goodman (2-for-3, R, 4 RBI) clubbed a three-run homer to make it a four-score game. Â
- Vida Rodriguez extended the lead three batters later to five with a RBI double.
- Garcia kept Brooklyn off of the board with a scoreless second frame. Â
- Goodman struck again in the fourth with an RBI triple, while Brooklyn closed out the scoring in the fifth by crossing home plate on a three-base wild pitch.  Â
- Danielle Guzzardi (W, 8-13: 5 IP, 0 H, 0 BB, 9 SO) fanned nine batters to spin Brooklyn's perfect game. Â
- Brooklyn produced three extra-base hits, stole three bags and left four runners on base.
Game 2: Brooklyn 13, York 0Â (5 Inn.)
- Garcia (L, 2-10: 4 IP, 10 H, 3 ER, 5 BB, 2 SO) spotted Brooklyn a base runner in the first inning by handing out a leadoff walk to Palacios. Palacio then stole second, and trotted across home plate on back-to-back wild pitches to break the scoring ice.  Â
- In the second, Rodriguez (2-for-2, 2 R, RBI) drilled a double to place runners on second and third before doubling Brooklyn's advantage as Jelisa Palenque scored on a wild pitch for the first of two runs in the frame. Â
- Madison Plaza worked a walk off Guzzardi (W, 9-13: 5 IP, H, BB, 7 SO) to leadoff York's third for the Cardinals' first base runner of the day. Â
- Andrea Wright then stepped to the plate and slapped a single to move Plaza into scoring position. Â
- Following a strike out by Samantha Panameno, a fielder's choice prevented Plaza from reaching third, while Guzzardi rang up Lissenny Florentino on strikes to strand Wright at second. Â
- Four costly errors, coupled with three wild pitches and a walk contributed to Brooklyn's five-run third. Â
- Brooklyn tacked on five more runs in the fourth frame to settle the 13-0 final.
- The Cardinals were unable to get it going at the plate and had five miscues in the field. Brooklyn compiled three of its two hits for extra-bases, in addition to stealing one bag while standing four runners on base.
