York College begins a two-game homestand Tuesday (Nov. 19) with an encounter against Western Connecticut State University

JAMAICA, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's basketball continued their campaign Saturday afternoon with a non-conference road battle against the Drew University Rangers (2-2), falling 115-65 from Baldwin Gym.
 
How it Happened
  • Drew raced out to an 11-2 run in the first 2:40 of the contest.
  • With 10:23 remaining in the first half, a layup by Malcolm Newman gave the Rangers a 19-point advantage (29-10).
  • Trailing 40-14, York went on an 8-0 burst to trim the deficit to 18 (40-22).
  • Regaining the offensive momentum, Drew closed the final 4:26 on a 17-6 spurt to lead 57-28 at intermission.
  • With both squads somewhat canceling each other out in the first 8:53 of second-half action, a layup by York's Bryan Godette made it a 31-point scoreline (79-48), the closest the Cardinals came the rest of the game.
  • A quick 12-0 blitz by the Rangers pushed the margin to 43 (91-48) with 9:26 showing on the clock.
  • Two free throws by Drew's Andre De Los Reyes with 17 seconds remaining capped off the 115-65 scoreline.
Leading the Cardinals
  • Brandon Barrett scored a team-leading 14 points (7-of-9 FG). 
  • Michael Litchfield added 11 points (3-of-7 FG, 5-of-7 FT) off the bench.
  • Godette hauled in a team-high six rebounds and Devin Berrios led the squad with five assists.
For Drew
  • Josh Kline poured in a game-best 18 points (7-of-14 FG, 2-of-5 FT) and James Anderson totaled 17 points (6-of-12 FG, 5-of-9 3FG).
  • Newman (14 points), Matthew Zenker (13 points), and Peso Crump (11 points) rounded out the team's double-digit scorers.
  • Pat Higgins dished out a game-leading nine dimes.
Inside the Box Score
The Cardinals shot 37.1 percent (26-of-70) from the field, 16.7 percent (4-of-24) from beyond the arc, and 52.9 percent (9-of-17) from the free-throw line. Drew shot 54.3 percent from the floor (44-of-81), 37.8 percent from deep (14-of-37), and 76.5 percent (13-of-17) from the charity stripe. Additionally, the Rangers dominated with their inside presence, winning the rebound battle (53-35) and outsourcing York (56-36) in paint points. Drew also recorded 34 assists and capitalized on 23 Cardinals miscues for 34 points.
