www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's volleyball competed in a non-conference tri-match Saturday on the road against the Albertus Magnus College Falcons (11-10) and St. Joseph's University (Brooklyn) Bears (11-7). The Cardinals opened with a 25-8, 25-10, 25-7 setback to the host Falcons before dropping a 25-4, 25-5, 25-14 decision against St. Joseph's inside Cosgrove Marcus Messer Athletic Center.
Match 1: Albertus Magnus 3, York 0 (25-8, 25-10, 25-7)
First Set Breakdown
- Level at two, Albertus Magnus went on a 7-0 burst to lead 9-2.
- A kill by York's Madison Plaza maintained a seven-point deficit (14-7).
- Three consecutive aces by Shalese Gordon closed out a 25-8 Falcons set victory.
Second Set Breakdown
- Trailing 6-1, kills by Jeana Clemons and Alicia Gumbs got York within two points (8-6).
- A pair of aces from Yarieshka Sierra and Amanda Zdru buoyed a 12-1 spurt for Albert us Magnus To take a 20-7 advantage.
- Paula Matheus finalized a 25-10 victory for the Falcons with an ace.
Third Set Breakdown
- With Albertus Magnus controlling the pace of play, the Cardinals finally got their first point of the stanza with a kill by Gumbs at 16-7.
- A trio of aces by the Falcons' Alyssa Valentine helped close out a 25-7 scoreline.

- Matheus had a match-high 10 points and eight kills to go along with six digs.
- Zdru and Valentine both produced five aces. Zdru matched Matheus' mark of six digs.
- Sierra generated six points, and Gordon orchestrated the offense with 11 assists.

Beyond the set scorelines, Albertus Magnus finished with more points (46-10), kills (24-8), assists (21-6), aces (21-1), and digs (22-20) than the Cardinals. When attacking, York hit at a -.136 rate, while the Falcons swung at a .291 clip on 55 attacks.

First Set Breakdown
- Onwuamaegbu recorded York's first point of the contest with a kill to trim the deficit to six (9-3).
- Taylor Knight owned the rest of the stanza, authoring six kills and seven aces in the final 17 points for a 25-4 victory.

- York took the opening point off of a Bear setting error.
- St. Joseph's responded with a 12-1 blitz via six kills and six aces.
- Four straight aces by Jillian McGinty made the scoreline 17-2.
- Leading 20-5, the Bears closed out the period with a 5-0 output.

- With St. Joseph's leading 3-2, three kills by Knight and five aces by Martina Urgo spearheaded a 10-0 run to take an 11-point edge (13-2).
- Trailing 16-4, the Cardinals showed fight, rallying back to make it an 18-12 battle.
- A trio of aces by Juliette DiVittorio settled down the Bears, as they cruised to a 25-14 final.

- Plaza, Onwuamaegbu, and Clemons each had one point.

For St. Joseph's
- Knight dominated the match with 22 points (14 kills and eight aces).
- Urgo served a match-leading 12 aces.
- Rachel Meltsin organized the attack with 14 kills.

The Bears finished with great offensive numbers of 62 points, 26 kills, a .391 attack percentage, 24 assists, and 35 assists. Defensively, St. Joseph's tallied 14 digs to York's 12.
