Adams lands long range goal for @yorkcardinals Women’s Soccer versus Lehman

York College continues CUNYAC play Saturday (Oct. 19) against John Jay College

JAMAICA, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's soccer commenced their CUNYAC home slate Wednesday afternoon against the Lehman College Lightning (8-3, 2-0 CUNYAC), falling 8-1 from York College Outdoor Athletic Complex.

First-Half Breakdown
Claudia Diaz opened the scoring for Lehman in the 6th minute after poking the ball home from a corner kick. Emily Huerta doubled the Lightning's advantage with a left-footed chip at 24:40. Huerta added a third Lehman goal around six minutes later after a Lory Castro assist. Attempting to find their footing, the Cardinals came close with efforts by Stephanie Ramirez and Emelin Cajamarca to end the period, but the 3-0 scoreline remained.

Second-Half Breakdown
The combination of Huerta and Castro popped up again for Lehman's fourth goal, as Huerta finished off her hat trick over 12 minutes into the frame. Meda added a fifth Lightning strike with an empty net finish at the 58:32 mark. Meda tacked on another goal in the 69th minute, and Lory Castro got on the scoresheet with 15:10 remaining to put Lehman up 7-0. With a glimmer of hope, Alisha Adams found the top corner with a beautifully placed right-footed shot in the 77th minute to cut the margin to 7-1. This was the midfielder's team-leading 14th point of the campaign. A last-minute own goal by York finalized the 8-1 match.

The Lightning had the advantage in shots (21-6), shots on target (12-4), and corners (7-1). In net, Ramirez (0-2) and Michelle Mancuso combined for eight saves for York, while Lehman's Katelyn Rice (8-2) stopped three shots.
