Neptune scores four goals as @yorkcardinals Women’s Soccer blanks Medgar Evers for CUNYAC-opening triumph

York College returns to home field Wednesday (Oct. 16) for a CUNYAC bout against Lehman College

QUEENS, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's soccer claimed their second victory of the campaign, capturing a convincing 10-0 CUNYAC road win over the Medgar Evers College Cougars (0-4-0, 0-2-0 CUNYAC) from Flushing Meadows Corona Park Field 3.

First-Half Breakdown
The Cardinals got off to a fast start and never looked back as Zaria Neptune netted her first-career game-winning goal just nine seconds into action.  After Stephanie Ramirez doubled York's advantage at the 2:47 mark, Neptune struck again in the 10th and 17th minutes off helpers by Alisha Adams and Emelin Cajamarca, respectively, to produce her first-career hat trick.  Cajamarca then assisted on Brithney Bielma's goal in the 20th minute before finding the back of the net in the 27th minute to make it a 6-0 game.  Neptune added her career-high fourth goal of the game at 40:04 to send York into the break with a commanding seven-score advantage.

Second-Half Breakdown
Rebecca McKenzie broke the second-half scoring ice by finishing  a feed from Aisatou Diallo 2:46 in with her - goal of the season.  Zainab Gedel joined the scoring frenzy in the 54th minute before Kresanta Jones buried a penalty kick to settle the scoring in the 57th minute.  York's dominant defense was tested for the first time at the 58:49 mark when Danajah Lawrence launched wide for the Cougars' first attempt of the match.  Medgar Evers were unable to break through after hitting the crossbar in the 64th and 67th minutes.

Inside the Box Score
After taking 21 shots in the first half, York finished with a 28-4 edge and also owned the advantage in shots on goal (15-0) and corner kicks (4-1).  Michelle Mancuso (2-6-0) earned her second clean sheet of the season to become the first Cardinal to earn a pair of shutouts in a season since Stephanie Gutierrez in 2018.  Seeta Tomby (0-1-0) made five saves in defeat for Medgar Evers.
