Sanchez nets career-high fourth goal to spark @yorkcardinals Men’s Soccer at John Jay

York College continues its CUNYAC road slate Wednesday (Oct. 16) with a battle against Lehman College

NEW YORK --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's soccer opened a three-match road trip Saturday with a CUNYAC matchup against the John Jay College Bloodhounds (3-7-2, 2-1-1 CUNYAC), falling by the final count of 8-1 from Randall's Island Field 74.

First-Half Breakdown
Damian Coronel broke the scoring icing just 3:11 in with a deflection that put the Bloodhounds in front for the early edge.  John Jay doubled its advantage 3:52 later with Kelvin De La Cruz finding Maksym Ivanov for the game-winning goal.  York  put the pressure on John Jay as Stanley Sanchez tested goalie Tyler Solis (1-3-1) at the 8:07 mark for one of his four first-half attempts.  Sanchez also landed shots on target in the 17th and 19th minutes.  Jonathan Granados sent a free kick past the outstretched arms of York netminder George Molina (1-7-1) in the 44th minute to send John Jay into the break with a 3-0 lead.  

Second-Half Breakdown
Sanchez put York on the board in the 49th minute by finishing a feed from Jose Recio to slice the deficit to two goals.  Sanchez's brace was his team-leading and career-high fourth of the season.  Both teams then played even until John Jay scored five unanswered goals during a stretch of 11:01 to put the game away.  Daniel Rosa opened the run at 74:32 with his first of two goals during the scoring spree.  Marcel Tovar and Dan Da Silva contributed tallies before Josh Brayan settled the score in the 86th minute.  

Inside the Box Score
John Jay finished with the advantage in shots (27-9), shots on goal (16-6), and corners (7-3). In between the pipes, Molina stopped eight shots while Solis turned away five attempts.
