NEW YORK --- (
www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's soccer continued their CUNYAC schedule Saturday evening against the City College of New York Beavers (1-5, 1-1 CUNYAC), but could not hold onto a 1-0 halftime lead, falling 3-1 from Randall's Island.
First-Half Breakdown
- York broke through with the first shot of the evening as Marvin Mondesir finished a pass from Altenor Molien 2:13 into the match.
- It was a threatening half from Mondesir, as he tested Beaver goalkeeper Mikhael Torres in the ninth minute and fired two shots wide a couple of minutes later.
- Searching for an equalizer, Cardinal keeper Ahmed Algendy (0-4-0) pulled off four clutch saves during a stretch of 4:38 to maintain York's one goal cushion.
- Despite CCNY producing five shots on target and 10 corners, the Cardinal backline kept the score 1-0 going into the second period.
Second-Half Breakdown
- The Beavers delivered the equalizer six minutes into the half after a free-kick goal from Yusuf Abdelmegid.
- The match was not on level terms for long, as an own goal at the 53:48 mark gave CCNY the go-ahead goal that proved to be the decisive tally.
- Looking to tie up the score, Torres parried away two Stanley Sanchez shots in the 61st and 68th minutes.
- Abdelmegid sealed the 3-1 result for the Beavers at the 71:18 mark with a strike via a deflection.

Besides the scoreline, CCNY maintained the edge in shots (23-9), shots on target (21-6), and corners (14-1). Algendy tied a season-high with nine saves, while Torres (1-2-0) claimed five stops.
