@yorkcardinals Women’s Tennis claims victory in No. 2 doubles, No. 3 singles at Lehman

York College completes a two-match road trip Friday (Sept. 29) in a non-conference encounter against St. Joseph’s University (L.I.)

BRONX --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's tennis returned to the courts Tuesday against the Lehman College Lightning (1-3, 1-0 CUNYAC), falling 6-2 in a CUNYAC road bout from APEX Tennis Courts.  

Today's match proved to be successful for the Cardinals as Maryam Khan (No. 3 singles) and the duo of Dawa Bhote and Lhakpa Sherpa (No. 2 doubles) collected their first-career wins.  The talleys marked the first time York has posted wins on the singles and doubles courts since October 22, 2021, when the Cardinals took Nos. 1/6 singles and No. 3 doubles over John Jay College.  

It was Khan who got the job done today in the singles draw with a clear path to victory, claiming the 8-6 triumph on the No. 3 singles court.  Bhote and Sherpa held their own in No. 2 doubles to hold off the opposition to notch an 8-4 win.  In No. 3 doubles, Khan and Jerina Forbes forced their opponents to a super tiebreaker, proving their level of determination and grit, before falling just short at 8-8 (11-9).
