JAMAICA, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's volleyball set a season-high with four blocks Thursday evening in a doubleheader against the Brooklyn College Bulldogs (10-16) before falling in straight sets (25-17, 25-6, 25-9) in game one, and 25-10, 25-17, 25-10 in the second matchup.

Game 1: Brooklyn 3, York 0 (25-17, 25-6, 25-9)

How it Happened

• York's Jaylen Campbell thundered home a kill to take a 3-1 lead in the first set.
• Capitalizing off attack errors, the Cardinals pushed their edge to 11-7. 
• A seesaw affair, York's Stanley Sanchez tipped home a kill to make the score Brooklyn 18-17. 
• The Bulldogs reeled off seven consecutive points to win the set. 
• Brooklyn blitzed York 10-1 to start the second frame. 
• A kill from Jason Lin pushed Brooklyn's advantage to 20-5.
• Sanchez's service error sealed the 25-6 set victory for Brooklyn. 
• A 4-1 run from the Cardinals cut a 7-2 deficit to 8-6.
• Capped off by a kill from Brooklyn's Aziz Abdusamiev, the Bulldogs took a 16-7 edge after a 9-1 burst. 
• The Bulldogs closed out the match on a 9-2 spurt to claim the third stanza 25-9. 

Leading the Cardinals

• Campbell paced York with a team-best three kills and 18 total swings. 
• Ahmed Algendy and Glenver Stuart each totaled a kill, an ace, and four digs. 
• Sanchez added two kills and a team-leading four assists.

For Brooklyn 

• Tommy Min finished with a match-high nine points and nine digs. 
• Dion Csikortos served up seven aces. 
• Flanders tallied six kills. 
• David Lema produced six aces and assisted the Bulldog attack 16 times.

York hit -.139 and finished with more attack attempts than Brooklyn (57-49). The Bulldogs held an advantage in points (44-10), kills (23-8), aces (20-2), assists (19-8), and digs (29-17).

Game 2: Brooklyn 3, York 0 (25-10, 25-17, 25-10)

How it Happened

• Brooklyn raced out to a 9-1 first-set lead. 
• A 4-1 spurt from York made the score 10-5.
• An 11-3 burst following attacking errors from York gave Brooklyn a 21-8 edge.
• The Bulldogs closed out the set by winning 25-10.
• After a seesaw first few points, York took a 9-8 advantage following an attack error by Min. 
• Four straight aces by Min opened up a 15-9 edge for Brooklyn. 
• Buoyed by excellent rallies, York trimmed the deficit to 17-15.
• Strong fists by the Bulldogs helped them claim five out of the next six points, opening up a 22-16 edge.
• Andres Vargas closed out a 25-15 second-set triumph for Brooklyn.
• Eight consecutive for the Bulldogs to begin the third stanza opened up a commanding lead.
• York garnered five of the next eight points to make the score 11-5.
• Two aces by Lin made it a double-digit score (16-6).
• The Cardinals rallied with three straight points, topped off by a block by Austinson Cooke.
• Ahead 16-9, Brooklyn went on a 9-1 burst to seal the match.

Leading the Cardinals

• Cooke generated a career-high 5.5 points.
• Stuart recorded two kills, a block, and a match-high 16 attack attempts.
• Sanchez led the team with five assists and tallied four digs.
• Algendy also chipped in with four digs.
• Alex Winter got in on the action with a blocked shot.

For Brooklyn

• Min dominated proceedings with a match-leading 17 points and 12 digs.
• Andreas Vargas poured in seven kills and four service aces.
• Lema kept the attack ticking with 20 assists to go along with nine aces.

Inside the Box Score
York hit -.167 for the match and held a 4-3 advantage to notch a season-high total in blocks. The Cardinals also registered their second-highest output with 14 points.  Brooklyn attacked at a rate of .165 and outmatched York in points (51-14), kills (23-8), assists (22-8), aces (25-2), and digs (25-13).
