BELLEROSE, NY --- (
www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College softball got off to a slow start Wednesday afternoon and were unable to recover as the Brooklyn College Bulldogs (5-12) claimed a non-conference doubleheader sweep by the way of 16-0 in game one before a 15-1 setback in the finale from Padavan-Preller Fields.
Game 1: Brooklyn 16, York 0 (5 Inn.)
	- The Bulldogs jumped ahead early by sending 13 batters to the plate in the opening inning to take a 8-0 lead. 
 
	- Isabella Frank's two-RBI double punctuated a five-run top of the second to give Brooklyn an 11-0 edge. 
 
	- A double and three walks pushed Brooklyn's lead to 14-0 in the third. 
 
	- Starter Danielle Guzzardi (W, 4-11; 5 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 12 K) mowed down York's lineup in the third frame 1-2-3.
 
	- Brooklyn extended its advantage to 16-0 in the top of the fifth via a two-run single from Sandra Diaz (2-for-2, 4 RBI, R, 2 BB, SB) to settle the scoring. 
 
	- Guzzardi struck out the side in the last inning to complete her perfect game. 
 
	- The Bulldogs outplayed York in hits (12-0), walks (16-0), and stolen bases (3-0).
 
	- Defensively, York committed a season-low two errors. 
 
	- Sofia Soric (L, 1-6; 5 IP, 12 H, 16 BB, 14 ER, 3 SO) recorded the loss. 
 
Game 2: Brooklyn 15, York 1 (5 Inn.)

	- Sparked by a two-run triple from Yasileidy Paulino (3-for-3, 4 RBI, R, BB, SB), Brooklyn blitzed York for seven runs in the opening frame. 
 
	- Lissenny Florentino (2-of-3, SB) broke York into the hit column with a one-out single to center field before getting thrown out in an attempt to steal second to end the Cardinals' threat in the bottom of the first. 
 
	- Soric fanned Melanie De La Cruz to limit the Bulldogs to one run in the second after stranding three on base. 
 
	- The Bulldogs extended their lead to 11-0 in the third frame following a hit, a walk, and three errors. 
 
	- York cashed in a run in the bottom of the third, as Alicia Gumbs (1-for-2, R) singled and eventually crossed the plate on an error.  Guzzardi (W, 5-11; 4 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 8 SO) settled down to escape out of the jam by inducing an inning ending ground out to leave three runners on base.   
 
	- Dasha Goodman flared a two-run single into left field to give the Bulldogs a 14-1 lead in the fourth. 
 
	- Madison Plaza singled with two outs in the fourth but was unable to advance following an inning-ending strikeout. 
 
	- Melanie Millan's RBI single in fifth added a 15th run to Brooklyn's tally. 
 
	- Florentino collected her first-career multi-hit game with a two-out single in the fifth.  She then stole second for York's first runner in scoring position since the third before Millan (1 IP, 1 H, 2 SO) struck out Soric to seal the 15-1 victory. 
 
	- Soric (L, 1-7; 6 H, 3 ER, 7 BB, SO) tossed three innings in the circle, allowing three earned runs as the Cardinal defense committed six miscues. Nayelly Rojas (3 H, 3 ER, 5 BB) worked the final two innings in relief. 
 
	- In the end, Brooklyn held the advantage in hits (9-4), walks (12-0) and stole bases (4-1).  Both teams drew even by abandoning five runners on the basepath.
