www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's volleyball was recognized Thursday by the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) as the league announced its year-end awards.
Senior middle hitter
Andrea Wright claimed a spot on the -member CUNYAC Sportsmanship Team. The distinction is Wright's second of her career after previously being named to the 2023 CUNYAC Softball Sportsmanship Team.
"For the past two seasons, Andrea Wright has brought a positive calming energy that goes beyond the team. She may be very soft spoken, but her actions speak louder than words. She is always willing to help anyone regardless of what team you are on."- said head coach Mario Tang
Hailing from Brooklyn, Wright has been ever present in the middle for York, appearing in all 17 contests for the Cardinals in 2023. Wright finished the year with career-highs in points (52.5), kills (24), blocks (19) and aces (11) in 53 sets. Team-wise, Wright finished the season as the team-leader in blocks and blocks per set (0.36).
