Richard Reyes was recognized Tuesday as the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) released its weekly awards for meets swam November 13-19.
The Bronx native earned the CUNYAC Honorable Mention citation to become York's first weekly award winner since Travis Henry's Rookie of the Week distinction during the 2014-15 campaign.
Facing Brooklyn College (Nov. 14) in York's home opener, Reyes cruised to victory in the 200-meter freestyle and the 400-meter freestyle. Gaining nine points in each event, Reyes touched the wall at 2:48.66 in the 200-meter and 5:56.98 in the 400-meter event. Both these times were season highs. In the first leg of the 200-meter freestyle relay, Reyes got off to a blazing start, spearheading the Cardinals to a comfortable victory.

Reyes and the Cardinals are scheduled to return to action Saturday (Jan. 13) in a road tri-meet against the Bard College Raptors and Brooklyn College Bulldogs starting at 1 p.m. inside Stevenson Athletic Center Pool.
