www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's volleyball returned to action Thursday night against the Albertus Magnus College Falcons (9-19), losing in straight sets (25-9, 25-14, 25-11) in a road contest inside Cosgrove Marcus Messer Athletic Center.
First Set Breakdown
- After going down 5-0, kills by Samantha Panameno and Shamonie Miller trimmed the deficit to three (5-2) for York.
- Kills from Nathalie Wallace and Majo Pelaez extended the Falcons' edge to 11-4.
- An 11-2 burst from Albertus Magnus made the score 21-6.
- A smackdown from Colleen Edwards sealed the set for the Falcons at 25-9.
Second Set Breakdown
- Trailing 3-0, the Cardinals utilized five service errors to take five of the following 11 points.
- Ahead 10-5, Albertus Magnus went on a 10-1 run to push the edge to 20-6.
- Charging late, York blitzed the Falcons with an 8-4 run to trim the deficit to 10 (24-14) before falling 25-14.
Third Set Breakdown
- The Cardinals started off strong, claiming a 7-4 buoyed by a kill and ace by Panameno.
- Albertus Magnus responded by scoring seven unanswered points to take an 11-7 lead.
- Seizing momentum, the Falcons took control with a 9-2 spurt.
- Leading 21-11, Albertus Magnus closed out the match on the serve of Edwards.

- Panameno paced the Cardinals with a career-high in points (4), kills (3) and digs (5), while hitting a team-leading .167
- Miller totaled a kill, 13 total attacks, and a team-best seven digs.
- Nadaysia Nivar recorded a team-high 15 total attacks, an ace, and a blocked shot.
For Albertus Magnus
- Pelaez smacked down a match-leading seven kills while Edwards added five kills.
- Wallace, Yarelis Torres, and Nyanna each chipped in with four kills.
- Shalese Gordon finished with a match-leading seven aces.
- Both Gordon and Alyssa Valentine quarterbacked the offense with 13 assists.
- Amanda Zdru swept up a match-best 13 digs.

The Cardinals attacked at a rate of -.222 while the Falcons hit .289. Albertus Magnus maintained the edge in points (50-9), kills (35-4), aces (33-2), assists (33-2), and digs (34-25). York had control in the blocked shot category (4-0).
