York College remains on the road Thursday (Nov. 2) for a non-conference tilt against Albertus Magnus College

BROOKLYN --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's volleyball returned to play Tuesday evening against the Brooklyn College Bulldogs (11-11, 4-3 CUNYAC), falling in straight sets (25-5, 25-8, 25-6) to put a lid on their CUNYAC schedule in a road matchup inside West Quad Center Gymnasium. 

First Set Breakdown
  • Brooklyn raced out to a 7-1 lead facilitated by two aces and a kill from Katia Mercado.
  • York claimed two-consecutive points to pull within four (7-3).
  • The Bulldogs went on an 11-1 run to extend their lead to 18-4.
  • Leading 18-5, Brooklyn closed out the set by winning the final seven points. 
Second Set Breakdown
  • A kill by Nadaysia Nivar helped York keep it close early on, as Brooklyn led 3-2.
  • The Bulldogs responded with a 4-0 spurt to take a 7-2 edge.
  • Both squads split the next six points, as Andrea Wright's kill trimmed York's deficit to five (10-5).
  • Ahead 13-7, Brooklyn claimed 12 of the following 13 points to win the stanza. 
Third Set Breakdown
  • Another early kill by Nivar kept the set close as Brooklyn got out to a 4-3 advantage.
  • Brooklyn rattled off the next 11 points to extend its lead to 15-3.
  • Controlling the pace, the Bulldogs utilized a 10-3 burst to seal the match.

  • Nivar paced the Cardinals with three kills, eleven total attacks, and six digs. 
  • Madison Plaza spiked down a career-best two kills and added a solo block.
  • Wright added a kill.
  • Samantha Panameno quarterbacked the offense with a team-leading five assists. 
For Brooklyn
  • Aleah Rafat served seven aces and had a team-best seven kills.
  • Emma Steele totaled a match-high 14 aces.
  • Sydney Gdanski chipped in with four kills and five aces. 
  • Mercado and Arma Mulic both recorded seven assists.

The Cardinals attacked at a rate of -.178 while the Bulldogs hit .289. Brooklyn finished with the edge in points (58-7), kills (22-6), aces (32-0), blocks (4-0), assists (17-6), and digs (24-14).
