@yorkcardinals Women’s Soccer attacks late at CCNY

York College remains on the road Friday (Oct. 27) for a non-conference matchup against University of Valley Forge

NEW YORK --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's soccer closed out their CUNYAC schedule Wednesday afternoon against the City College of New York Beavers (8-5, 5-0 CUNYAC), falling behind early before the 8-0 finale on the road from Randall's Island Field 10. 

First-Half Breakdown
  • Lennon Leithauser got CCNY off the mark in the sixth minute, finishing off a pass from Isabel Osorio for the game-winning goal.
  • Osorio then doubled the Beavers' advantage a minute later to make it a two-score game.
  • Consistently testing York goalkeeper Aisatou Diallo (0-2-0), CCNY produced a 33-second double salvo in the 16th minute, pushing the score to 4-0.
  • Leithauser recorded her brace at the 18:52 mark to push the lead to 5-0.
  • Gissell Gonzalez struck in the 23rd minute, and Gazelle Dunphy tacked on a goal in the 28th minute to end the first-half scoring.
Second-Half Breakdown
  • Samantha Pinto slotted home a pass from Laura Villatoro in the 57th minute to settle the scoring.
  • The Cardinals broke into the shot column at the 61:40 mark as Alisha Adams forced a save out of Beaver goalie Laila Issa.
  • Adams created danger on goal four minutes later for the final shot of the match while York's defense held CCNY without an attempt in the last 14 minutes of play.
Inside the Box Score
Besides the scoreline, the Beavers maintained the edge in shots (28-2), shots on target (25-3), and corners (6-1). Diallo recorded eight saves for the Cardinals, as Amelia Cataldo (5-3) and Issa combined for the clean sheet.
