York College travels Wednesday (Oct. 25) for a CUNYAC encounter at CCNY

BROOKLYN --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's soccer went toe to toe Saturday evening against the Brooklyn College Bulldogs (3-9-2, 1-3 CUNYAC) but could not maintain their defensive fortitude throughout the match, falling 2-0 in a CUNYAC battle from Aviator Field.

First-Half Breakdown
  • York had the opening chance of the match 55 seconds in as Zaria Neptune's cross found an open Emelin Cajamarca at the edge of the penalty box, but Cajamarca skied the attempt.
  • An end-to-end affair early on, Brooklyn's Mary Khosh tested Cardinals goalkeeper Aisatou Diallo at the 3:36 mark, but Diallo was up to the task.
  • Threatening again, Brooklyn's Juliana Hernandez forced Diallo into another save in the 29th minute.
  • Knotted at zero after 45 minutes, Brooklyn's 11 shots and six corners could not breach the Cardinal net.
Second-Half Breakdown
  • The Bulldogs' control continued to start the period, as Diallo made a miraculous double save from Imani Dickens and Angelina Vasta to keep the score at 0-0 in the 52nd minute.
  • Getting closer to breaking the deadlock, Brooklyn's Sage Bernstein struck the woodwork at the 69:00 mark.
  • Following a loose ball off a corner kick, Angelina Vasta bundled the ball into the net with just over 12 minutes remaining to give Brooklyn a 1-0 lead. 
  • Dickens sealed the 2-0 victory for the Bulldogs with a close-range finish three minutes later.
Inside the Box Score
Outside of the scoreline, Brooklyn controlled proceedings in shots (31-4), shots on target (13-0), and corners (13-5). Diallo (0-1) repelled a career-high 11 stops in her first career start, while Kosterelioglu (2-2) recorded the clean sheet for Brooklyn.
