York College returns to home field November 3 to host Pratt Institute in its season finale on Senior Day

DIX HILLS, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's matched up Saturday afternoon against the Five Towns College Sound (6-2), falling 9-0 in a non-conference road bout from FTC Soccer Field.  

First-Half Breakdown
  • Five Towns applied early pressure but the Cardinal defense held strong after the hosts were unable to produce a shot following three corner kicks during a stretch of 1:17. 
  • The Sound launched their first of 24 first-half shots on netminder George Molina (1-5-0) at the 4:10 mark for the match's initial attempt. 
  • York countered by attacking Five Town's goal as Stanley Sanchez sent a header high at 8:15. 
  • After a Cardinal corner kick, the Sound's defense blocked attempts by Sanchez and Marvin Mondesir in the ninth minute.
  • Molina turned away a shot at 8:51 before Five Towns broke the scoring ice 51 seconds later on a tally by Angel Chavez for what proved to be the game-winning goal. 
  • Five Towns then doubled its advantage at 9:58 with a strike by Chavez before recording a hat trick in the 13th minute to make it a three-score game.
  • The Sound reached the back of the goal five more times to go up by eight at the break with tallies by Said Wong, Juan Lopez, Sebastian Cuenca, Erick Giron and Erick Gruver. 
  • Muhammad Mboob drove a laser just high of Five Towns' posts for York's final shot in the 38th minute. 
Second-Half Breakdown
  • Ivano Arizaga became Five Towns' seventh goal scorer of the day when he settled the 9-0 final in the 57th minute.
  • York clamped down defensively in the second stanza by limiting Five Towns to just one shot.   
Inside the Box Score
In the end, Five Towns owned the edge in shots (25-4), shots on target (17-0), and corners (8-1). Molina finished with eight saves while Steven Paguada (5-2-0) earned the clean sheet for the Sound.
