www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's basketball got back in the win column Friday evening, defeating the John Jay College Bloodhounds (7-7, 1-2 CUNYAC) by the final count of 60-50 in a CUNYAC road matchup inside The Doghouse.

How it Happened
- York raced out to a 7-2 start.
- John Jay responded with its own 7-2 burst, knotting the score up at nine with 3:42 remaining in the first quarter.
- The Cardinals outscored the Bloodhounds 7-6 to finish the quarter, as John Jay's Ashley Zoella turned home a layup with 24 seconds left to make it a one-point game.
- Mac-Dege Dessources capped off a 7-0 run for York to begin the second quarter when she converted a layup at the 7:09 mark.
- Alicia Gumbs' two free-throws with 12 seconds left pushed the Cardinals' lead to five (30-25) at intermission.
- Down 37-31, John Jay scored six consecutive points to even up the score.
- Knotted at 41, York went on a 6-1 run to take a 47-42 lead.
- Ashley Zoella's jumper with 16 seconds left cut the Bloodhounds' deficit to three (47-44) entering the fourth frame.
- Up 49-48, the Cardinals went on an 11-2 scoring spree to end the game.
- Aminata Sagna's layup with 1:26 showing on the clock pushed York's lead to a game-high 10 points (60-50), sealing the game for the Cardinals.
Inside the Box Score
Dessources dominated inside to post her 50th-career double-double (ninth of season), scoring 14 points (5-of-11 FG), grabbing a game-high 21 boards (seven offensive), and swatting away four shots. She recorded a double-double in the first half alone, netting 12 points and gathering 12 rebounds.
Ellma Hodzic scored 14 points (7-of-15 FG) of her own, pulled down seven rebounds, dished out a team-best five dimes, and had a team-leading three steals. Gumbs also had an all-around performance, scoring 13 points, hauling in seven boards, totaling four assists, and recording two steals.
Kristina Sierra reached double figures with 11 points (4-of-7 FG, 2-of-4 3FG) and also gathered six boards. Sagna tallied two steals in 13 minutes.
Katie Healy paced John Jay with a game-high 19 points (8-of-16 FG) and a team-leading 12 boards. Zoella also produced double-digit points, scoring 11 (3-of-12 FG) and grabbing eight rebounds. Ayanna Edwards had a team-leading five assists.
York connected on 40 percent (24-of-60) from the field, 14.3 percent (2-of-14) from 3-point range, and 58.8 percent (10-of-17) from the free-throw line. Despite knocking down 75 percent (9-of-12) from the charity stripe, John Jay struggled shooting the ball as the Bloodhounds were limited to 27.8 percent (20-of-72) from the floor and 7.7 percent (1-of-13) from beyond the arc.
The Cardinals won the boards battle, 50-45, scoring 16 second-chance points off 15 offensive rebounds. York owned the edge in blocks (5-0) and points in the paint (34-24), while John Jay outplayed the Cardinals in assists (15-10) and bench scoring (13-4). Both teams drew even in steals (8-8) and points off turnovers (14-14).
