www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's volleyball closed out a two-match CUNYAC homestand Tuesday evening, relinquishing three straight sets (25-5, 25-6, 25-15) to the Hunter College Hawks (8-6, 7-1 CUNYAC) inside York College Gymnasium.
Hunter started strong, jumping ahead 11-1 in the first set followed by a 19-2 advantage in the second stanza. York battled in the third set to hit .158 with six kills on 19 attempts as
David Heyliger, Jr. finished a feed from
Justin Dibra to knot the game at 1-1 in the final set. York kept it close until Hunter rallied with a 7-1 run to build a 20-10 lead.
David Heyliger, Jr. registered a team-leading seven points, nailing down six kills on 20 swings and added one solo block and three digs to his stat line. Anthony Nazario Jr. distributed six assists to move the Cardinals on offense.
Justin Dibra notched a career-high 1.5 blocks while
Jamie Haskell scooped two digs.
Ted Kim led Hunter to victory with five aces and five kills to produce a match-high 10 points. Cooper Moran captained Hunter with 24 assists. Moran and Raymond Yu solidified Hunter's defensive attack with four digs apiece.
York finished the match attacking a -.224 with eight kills on 49 while owning a 3-1 edge in blocks. Hunter outplayed York in points (44-11), kills (32-8), assists (30-7), digs (22-8), aces (11-0) and attacking percentage (.434 to -.224).
