York College returns home Wednesday (Feb. 9) for a CUNYAC stint against City College of New York


NEW YORK --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's basketball had their three-game winning streak snapped Monday evening with a heartbreaking 80-79 CUNYAC road loss to the Baruch College Bearcats (17-4, 11-0 CUNYAC) inside ARC Arena.  The Bearcats, who sit atop the CUNYAC standings, swept the two-game series for the sixth-straight season.  

How it Happened​​​​​​
  • After both teams traded baskets to open the game, York knocked down five-straight shots to use a 12-2 spurt to go up by 11 points (15-4) 7:07 in. 
  • 52 seconds later, Quran Dublin dropped in two of his 13 first-half points to extend York's advantage to 12 (17-5) with 13:01 remaining in the first half. 
  • Moments later, Baruch erased its deficit with an 11-1 run to build a 37-28 lead with 3:30 left. 
  • York scored 10 of the game's next 15 points in the final 3:07 as Dublin netted six during that stretch to trail 42-38 at intermission.  
  • Baruch went up by 12 points on two separate occasions during the second-half, holding a  59-47 lead with 13:58 left. 
  • Down 11, York then rallied with a 13-3 run capped by five-straight points from Dublin to push the Cardinals in front at the 8:55 mark, 64-63. 
  • Baruch answered with a 17-7 scoring spree to build its lead back to nine (80-71) with 1:50 remaining. 
  • York would not go down easily as Donald Hartley Jr. and Devine Chisholm drilled back-to-back three-pointers 37 seconds later to cut the deficit to three (80-77). 
  • With 17 seconds left, Dublin sank a pair of freebies to pull York within one. 
  • The Bearcats committed a turnover with seven seconds showing on the clock that allowed York to call timeout to set the stage for the final possession. 
  • Trailing 80-79, York was unable to pull out the win as Mambe Koureissi misfired from the corner as time expired.  
Inside the Box Score
Dublin led the way for the Cardinals with 26 points (9-of-20 FG, 7-of-8 FT), five assists, four rebounds and one steal.  Hartley Jr. registered 18 points (6-of-10 FG, 4-of-6 3FG), matching a season-high with four triples.  Chisholm added 12 points (4-of-4 FT) and four assists. Koureissi pitched in 11 points (4-of-7 FG, 1-of-1 3FG), six rebounds, five assists (career-high) and four steals.  Guillermo Hernandez pulled down nine rebounds and collected two steals.

For the Bearcats, Adnan Bajrami scored 22 points (9-of-16 FG, 4-of-9 3PT FG) to go along with five assists, two steals and one block.  Michael Richards and Sean Donnellan both went for 11 points. 

York finished the game hitting 46.6 percent (27-of-58) from the field, 39.1 percent (9-of-23) from three-point range and 72.7 percent (16-of-22) from the free-throw line as Baruch landed 52.5 percent (31-of-59) from the field, 40.9 percent (9-of-22) from long distance and 81.9 percent (9-of-11) from the stripe.  The Cardinals won the battle of the boards, 32-26, scoring just two points off 11 offensive rebounds.  Baruch outplayed the Cardinals in assists (17-15), blocks (3-2), steals (9-7) and points off turnovers, scoring 23 points off 18 York giveaways.
