www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's basketball played ahead for the final 24:44 Sunday afternoon to win their third-straight game with a 76-66 CUNYAC win against the visiting Lehman College Lightning (16-3, 9-2 CUNYAC) inside York College Gymnasium. The victory helped York split the two-game series with Lehman for the fourth-straight season.
How it Happened
- The Cardinals got off to a strong start with Mambe Koureissi draining a pair of freebies and a layup by Guillermo Hernandez to make it a 4-0 game 2:20 in.
- Trailing 14-10, Lehman went on a 12-4 run to go up by four (22-18) with 6:37 remaining in the half.
- Following a Mo Idrissou free-throw at the 5:41 mark to give Lehman a 23-20 lead, York caught fire by scoring 18-unanswered points as Koureissi contributed seven during that span to take a commanding 38-23 advantage with 1:21 left.
- Lehman answered with a 7-0 spurt to close out the final 61 seconds to slice its deficit to eight (38-30) at the break.
- The Lightning got as close as nine points on six separate occasions during the second-half, but York proved to be too much.
- Holding a 51-42 edge, Devine Chisholm and Quran Dublin drilled back-to-back triples to push York's advantage to 15 points (57-42) with nine minutes remaining.
- Dublin then scored seven of his 15 second-half points during a key stretch that saw York outscore Lehman 15-8 to extend its lead to a game-high 16 points (76-60) with 1:56 showing on the clock.
- Lehman scored the game's final six points to settle the 76-66 final.
Inside the Box Score
Dublin poured in a game-high 26 points (10-of-26 FG, 4-of-12 3FG, 2-of-2 FT) and added eight rebounds, four assists and three steals to the win. Koureissi notched his third double-double of the season, finishing with 23 points (10-of-14 FG), 16 rebounds (tied career-high) and a career-high four steals.
Donald Hartley Jr. followed with 10 points while Chisholm registered nine points (4-of-4 FT) and a game-high five assists.
Gian Batista paced Lehman with 19 points (8-of-15 FG, 3-of-4 3FG). Isaiah Geathers went for 11 points and Juan Fernandez chipped in 10.
York connected on 40.8 percent (29-of-71) from the field, 29.6 percent (8-of-27) from three-point territory and 66.7 percent (10-of-15) from the free-throw line as Lehman hit on 38.1 percent (24-of-63) from the floor, 22.2 percent (6-of-27) from beyond the arc and 70.6 percent (12-of-17) from the charity stripe. The Cardinals won the boards battle, 48-37, netting 13 second-chance points off 11 offensive rebounds. York also owned the edge in assists (16-7), steals (11-5) and points in the paint (34-30) while scoring 24 points off 19 Lightning miscues. Lehman finished with the advantage in bench scoring (20-6) and blocks (1-0).
